Solara solar panel heating system for pools in detail
To benefit from free pool heat and lengthen your swimming season, opt for the Solara solar heating system. This system raises the pool water temperature using a 100% ecological system. The solar panels capture the sun's natural calories, rendering them to your pool water.
The Solara system allows easy connection between several solar panels depending on the volume of water to be heated.
Linear installation or via a by-pass is possible (by-pass recommended in the case of coupling with a heat pump).
Advantages
- 10 degree gain in temperature for 5-6 hours of sunlight per day, over one week.
- Pool water heated naturally using the sun's calories
- Fast and easy installation
- Environmentally friendly, offering the lowest cost of pool heating
- Made from quality materials : polypropylene and polycarbonate
How to care for your Solara panel
Clean with a non-abrasive sponge or 100% cotton cloth and warm water with gentle washing up liquid. Rinse with cold water. Warning - do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners or detergents.
At the end of the season, disconnect your solar panel and store, sheltered from frost.
To winterize, purge by disconnecting all pipes.

Options
Several solar panels can be installed as a series
Several solar panels can be installed to obtain a higher water temperature.
Two installation systems are available: As a series or in parallel.
Installation using this method lowers pressure contained in each panel. This indicates the pump must have enough capacity to compensate for pressure loss.
Series installation
Parallel installation
Manual regulation
Manual regulation using the filtration pump to circulate water through the panel or panels which should be situated as closely as possible to the technical shelter. The panels must not be supplied during the night or during poor weather conditions (rain, snow, cold periods) as this could cool the pool water temperature.
A 3-way manual valve (available on option) allows regulation or can stop supply to the panels.

4. Anti-return valve
6. Discharge to pool
7. Solara solar panel
Automatic regulation
Automatic regulation via an auxiliary pump allows efficient optimising of the system by allowing flow through the panels only when climatical conditions are ideal.
This configuration is ideal when the panel installation is far from the technical shelter.

1. Temperature regulation using the motorised 3-way valve powered by the pool filtration pump :
This configuration can, in general, be adopted when the collector is a maximum of 6m from the pool water surface.
The motorised 3-way valve is fitted on the filtration hydraulic circuit. The temperature regulation valve opens or closes depending on temperature variation. When water requires heat, the flow passes through the collector. Heated water returns to the circuit via the T connection.
a/ Ø50mm 3-way motorised valve with integrated regulation
The SC03 valve is easily integrated (using connections available on option) to above ground pool hydraulic circuits. The desired water temperature can be adjusted in a gauge between +20°C and +40°C.
This regulation method uses:
- A sensor which measures water temperature in the pool with a 3m cable
- A sensor to measure ambient air temperature with 10m cable
Available models include the DN40/d50, electronically commanded EO510 MVO 12-230V AC/DC and specific bearing to compensate pressure, emergency adjustment. Featuring IP protection IP54, EU certification and visual indication of the unit's status.
Composed by means of a compact, command unit, which is ready to connect and conforms to DIN norms. Water temperature can be regulated manually from +20°C to +40°C.
This regulation method uses :
- A sensor which measures water temperature in the pool with a 3m cable
- A sensor to measure ambient air temperature with 10m cable
- PVC Praher 3-way valve, DN40/d50, MVO 12-230V AC/DC, emergency adjustment. Featuring IP protection IP54, EU certification and visual indication of the unit's status.

2. Separate auxiliary pump and temperature regulation integrated to hydraulic circuit.
It may be preferable or required to install a separate pump for the solar heating system. In general, if the solar panel is situated at a greater distance than 15m from the pool water surface.
Water is redirected using the T connection situated before the filter towards the panel.
The operation of this pump is managed by the regulation of temperature. The filter pump and the solar pump are separately regulated. The installation of anti-return valves on the solar and filtration circuits is highly recommended.
